Nicholas Widner was a son of an author David Widner who passed away on September 8, 2015.
Meanwhile, David is a nephew of Alcatraz prison escapees John Anglin and Clarence Anglin.
Nicholas’s death was revealed by his father via a Facebook post after the release of the Anglin Brother’s documentary ‘Alcatraz: Search for the Truth’.
The details of his obituary could not be found on social media. His burial ceremony is not revealed as well.
Nicholas was 17. He was born on January 2, 1998.
Now, apart from a familiar relationship with Anglin Brothers, Nicholas and John shared the same fate of being diagnosed with cancer. However, John’s precise illness is not known.

He had offered a deal to the authorities in 2013 stating that he is willing to receive 1-year in prison and he asked for medical assistance in return.
Anglin’s nephew David expressed dismay towards the authorities for keeping the letter secret from the family despite knowing about John’s illness.
John and Clarence were photographed in Brazil 13 years after their disappearance. David’s grandmother was revealed to receive roses for several years after the escape.

Nicholas Widner died of osteosarcoma.
He was diagnosed with bone cancer who had fought for a long period of time.
Widner died on September 8, 2015, at the age of 17.
