Stephen M. Twitty (born 1963) born in Spartanburg, South Carolina is a United States Army General Officer. Major General Twitty was awarded the Silver Star Medal, during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Noted for his relationship with journalist David Bloom that was embedded with his battalion during the invasion of Iraq in 2003. He has served five combat tours in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Kuwait. He commanded infantry company, infantry battalion, and brigade combat team size units during the wars in Iraq. Major General Twitty is a graduate of South Carolina State University and a member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity.
